Brian: 890 is the same as the 1280 but has a 8 1/2 x 11 max size. They were available direct from Epson refurbished for $150 recently. Refurbished is about the same as new. I have refurbished 890 (for color) & refurb 1280 (w/ MIS black inks). Love them both and either would do you well.
