Hello Matthew, >I never said you said you can't see dots. I was just kidding around - I think we need more of that on this forum. :) Ok, point taken, and I agree. Some people have inferred from my remarks some things I didn't say, so for the record: 1) I have never said that BO is better than good quad/hex printing. 2) I would like a dotless quad/hex solution as much as anyone. I agree that dotless printing has been and is a worthy goal. 3) My advocacy of BO printing has been because it is a good interim solution for: ..a) someone who has struggled unsuccessfully with quad/hex methods and needs a "life raft". ..b) a newbie who is confused by all the options and needs time to gain some experience and sort things out before investing a lot of money in a system. 4) The main reason I have been so vocal about it is that I feel that BO has gotten a bum rap, and that it deserves to be accepted as one of many available techniques so that people who may benefit from it do not dismiss it out of hand. The reason I began this thread is that Peter's remark about BO being contrasty is one which he has made before, some months ago, which generated a very similar discussion. I was dismayed that he would want to beat this dead horse all over again. Peter seems to be, as Martin said, "compelled to attack it...harshly". Lastly, I don't know if keith's remark was directed at me, but I am not on a "dots are beautiful campaign". Lots of people read this forum for information and I've received many emails from people who thanked me for turning them on to BO printing. Therefore I want to continue to portray it in a positive light. The prints have a unique look about them which resembles Tri-X in a way, and a well done BO print can be strikingly beautiful, with deep blacks, brilliant highlights, and silvery midtones. However, I am not in love with dots. If I could get the same intense beauty without the dots I'd be happy as a clam. One day the right system will come along and I'll spring for it. We keep getting closer. My only "campaign" is for BO printing to be accepted as one of many options. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm
