2 Photo Rags & German Etching

I just tried samples of Photo Rag to test against German Etching 
which I've been using. The PR 188 produced a slightly darker black & 
sharper contrast than the GE, but the Photo Rag 308 was washed out 
and gray - unacceptable.Anybody know why?
