Re: Questions about switching from PiezoTone to MIS Inks

2003-10-22 by Johnny Eades

Hello Robbie,

I just bought the PiezographyBW software for my Epson 1280 and bought
the Full spectrum Neutral inks from MIS. Thinking I had the newest
version of PiezographyBW I ordered the inkset for the Cone Driver and
had to call them for a replacement for the Epson Driver. I could have
kept the first order after finding out the version of PiezoBW was the
older one with the Cone driver in it. However I have found out I will
have the upgrade to the ICC profile driven software in a couple of
weeks. In the meantime I have been experimenting with the MIS FSN
inks. I was able to find a workflow on the MIS website by George
Woolf and adapted it to my tastes. I am much more pleased with the
output than with the MIS variable mix inkset. There was something
about the curves I was using that caused some muddying of the tones
around 70-80%. I too looked at the Piezotone inks and found them to
pricey for my pocket. You can get the FSN inks for the Cone driver
and still use the Piezo plugin.

Your friend in photography,

Johnny Eades
