Interesting article in Nov. issue of Shutterbug magazine. Its an
interview with Henry Wilhelm where he calls HP's new dye based
ink/swellable paper combo "a major breakthrough". He gives it a
rating of 73 years. HP's #59 cartridge is a BW only cartridge.
Interview also has some good info on what's state-of-the-art in the
industry.
I saw a display example at the local computer store of a BW print made
with HP's new printer using the #59 cartridge and their swellable Pro
Photo Glossy paper. The results were good but short of what advanced
readers of this forum would probably go for (just my opinion). The
print had a small but noticable amount of surface differential
("bronzing") probably due to the paper swelling differently in areas
of heavy and low density ink application. There was also a slight
green-yellow cast evident. Couldn't check for metamerism.
Be advised that the sample I viewed was beat up and small and
under fluorescent light so it may not be a fair observation.Message
