I am sure that others have thought of this, but I just put a sheet of Portra negs on top of a light box and shot it with a digital camera (Canon G2 in raw mode). After some fiddling with the light balance and exposure compensation, I got a reasonable shot which I inverted in PS and after some more fiddling and quick local contrast adjustments and a bit of burning got a contact print that is good enough to let me see what is on the roll. It beats anything I have been able to get from a flatbed scanner without a negative attachment. After I got the fiddles right, the whole thing took ten minutes. Steve
