I have finished a set of Photoshop image adjustment curves to control the UT inkset in the Epson 3000. There are 2 neutral curves, a medium warm curve, and a warm curve. The 2 neutral curves are about the same, but one might work better on some images than the other. The difference is where the dots appear. So, if the dots are too noticeable with one, try the other. These curves are for Epson Enhanced/Archival matte. They use driver paper type setting "Ink Jet Back Light Film" (best dmax), and "No Color Adjustment" (making them cross-platform). Since the 3000 is a bit old, there are dots in the images that some might be bothered by on small prints. For display prints the film grain is going to be more prominent for all be the large-format, fine-grain crowd. The visible dots are not in the highlights, but in the 60% - 70% range. Due to the quality limitations, this setup is not suitable for RC/glossy paper. While the 3000 is an old beast that limits what I can pull out of it, I think the results are fine for display prints on matte paper. It makes a useful option for price sensitive photographers who want good 16 x 20 B&W prints -- and that probably includes lots of people, like me. I have sent the set of curves to MIS and will also send it whoever would like them. I suspect they'll be posted in the files section of this forum in the near future. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com
