Is there a way to abort a print on Linux/QTR once it has begun?

I started a 13x19 print today and misfed the paper, so I knew it 
was a loss at once. I tried running the "cancel" command on the 
print job, which reported success almost immediately, and the print
job disappeared from the Print Manager window, but the print ran 
to completion anyway (about 35 more minutes of printing!)

When I first issued the cancel command, about 5% of the print 
had been produced yet--just about a half inch or maybe an inch 
out of 15.
