Digital BW, The Print

I would like to reformat my drive and set up a Linux/Windows dual 
boot system so that I can use the Quadtone RIP.  I would like to get 
some advice from a person who has successfully done this before.  
What version of Linux should I use.  When the system is running under 
Linux can I read files off the Windows partition.  I am aware of 
Partition Magic but for prefer to just reformat and clean house.  All 
and any advice would be highly appreciated.
