I've always been very happy using Epson's UC inks with QTR. The only drawback for me has been the lack of a light black ink for highlights. I've been running tests using the standard QTR printing method with UC ink but replacing the Yellow cartridge with MIS UT 25% black ink. The results are beautiful. The only drawback is that I can't us the UC_neutralize function of QTR with this method since that script calls up the use of light magenta, light cyan and yellow inks. Obviously you can only describe each ink once...and since I'm using the yellow ink slot for the light black UT ink UC-neutralizer can't also use it. I've been in contact with Roy Harrington (who is an amazingly helpful and friendly person) and he's going to see what can be done to work around this limitation in a future release of QTR. But in the meantime...I'm wondering if it's possible to use the MIS UT ink either the Cyan or Magenta slots and still have the printer recognize it. I've tried doing this and the printer shows that whichever place I put the light black cartridge that either it's empty or there is no ink cartridge inserted. If anyone has tried this with success or knows a way to fool the printer I'd love to know how to do this. Thank you in advance.
