Digital BW, The Print

Hi,
   Just joined the group...  I've had an Epson 2200 since soon after
they first became available.  Up to this point, have used mostly Epson
cartridges and printed mostly in color using PS 7.  Seeking to cut
down on ink expenses, though, I am thinking to switch over to the MIS
continuous flow system.  I'm seeking some feedback on this from people
who have been using this system for awhile.  Is is really tons cheaper
and are you satisfied with the quality and not having clogging or
other problems?  Since a 7-ink system is available for B&W printing
too, I am definitely interested in that, as well, only I am confused
as to how this works--is this why one needs additional software (eg,
Imageprinter or other RIP)?  How do you fine-tune which inks are used
otherwise?
   These must be common beginner questions, but couldn't find
discussion on them in the Search archives.  Thanks for any
help/recommendations.
