Septone Ink Fade Test

2003-12-31 by Clayton Jones

Hello All,

The Septone/PhotoRag print of the Tech Print Exchange image has been
on my south facing windowsill for 125 days now, getting some direct
sunlight every day, as well as very bright indirect daylight all day.
Each of the five images on the print has a portion covered with a
piece of matt board taped in place. This morning I examined them and
noticed for the first time a faint edge, showing that the ink is
finally beginning to fade.

The edge is only visible on the smooth ramp between 25% and 75%. It
is not visible yet on the other images of photos with small mixed
tonal areas. I will continue to monitor and report any significant
changes.

I also have on the windowsill a 2200 UltraChrome full ink grayscale
print (with PK on EAM) since 09/17/03 (105 days, no visible fading)
and a 2200 Eboni BO print (on EAM) since 11/05/03 (56 days, no visible
fading). I will continue to monitor these and report any significant
changes.

Happy new year everyone.

Regards,
Clayton
