I have been monitoring this forum only a couple weeks, but seems like
about half the topics have to do with your question, especially re.
the 2200 (which I have one of, also). Unfortunately, most of the
replies seem pretty oblique! There is a "black only" ("BO")
workflow. A good place to start researching this idea is:
http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm.
There are also septone inksets which use different shades of
black-gray in lieu of the 7 regular Epson inks. Problem is, you need
some additional software to tell the printer which inks to use, how
much and when. For me, the software is prohibitively expensive
(minimum $500), so I have no experience with it. I know of at least
two companies producing such inksets and software (called "RIP"). You
can try a net search using terms like "septone," "colorbyte," "RIP,"
etc. and/or try the site http://www.inkjetgoodies.com/main/software.htm
Good luck, and hope you'll share with me/the rest of us any insights
or new tips gained!
