Apparently the eye is most sensitive to lines/banding when the lines are horizontal or vertical. Diagonal lines are harder for us to see. According to my reading that is one reason halftone screening is at 45 degrees. As such, the ideal might be to rotate the image 45 degrees and print it. This wastes paper, of course, and I'm not sure how much difference it really makes. One of these days maybe I'll see if unsuspecting viewers can tell any difference. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
