I made a similar test by placing a ruler on the glass and raising the other end of the ruler to find the optimal focal plane with a 2450 scanner. The focal plane was very close to 2 mm (3/32"). I'm now scanning my 4x5 negs with a 1680 Pro scanner. With that scanner you can choose between two focal planes, i.e. 0 and 2 mm (3/32"). I lay the negative emulsion side down on the glass and keep it flat with an antinewton treated piece of glass on top.
