My latest fade test, consistent with others, showed very little affect from sprays with MIS ink. However, with the Epson Archival ink UT mix I was playing with the spray made a big difference. When the mix (which is made of Epson Archival color, UC light black, and standard MIS base) was sprayed it was almost as good as the test's best overall performance - UT2 on Premium Semigloss, unsprayed. (No measurable visual density loss in about 600 hours.) Carbon (no surprise) and DarkSepia (big surprise) UT2 on EEM matched this performance, but showed a larger tone shift (which is rather insignificant in light of their warm tones. The only ink in this test series that was not top notch was my experimental mix of Epson pigs and MIS base. They may not be compatible. It's interesting, however, that the spray brought that combination up to the MIS UT inks. Perhaps the MIS base that holds the pigs down is also giving the particles a thin coating that is protecting them. It is yellowish, like a UV coating.
