Digital BW, The Print

There are now several profiles for the UT2 inkset on the 1270 and 1280.
This is definitely one of the nicest and most versatile inksets for
B&W printing.

The profiles include three basic tones:  carbon, neutral and sepia
Blends of carbon and neutral, or of carbon and sepia give up
to 40 different tonal variations -- you can pick your personal favorite.

It supports both matte and glossy papers with one set of inks.
Use the Eboni in the black slot.  The glossy profiles achieve very good
dMax of around 2.1 without using the Eboni ink.  The papers include
Enhanced Matte, Photo Rag, (Glossy) Photo Paper, Ifford Smooth,
and Epson Premium - Gloss, Luster, SemiMatte.

The UT2 set also comes with ICC Soft Proof capability in Photoshop.  There
are proof profiles for the different papers.  With this feature you get
very good WYSIWYG  (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) while you
are editing the file in Photoshop.  Even if you do not have a Mac and
can't run QTR you can download these profiles and see that the UT2
inkset is capable of.

Finally, I am changing QuadToneRIP to a shareware product.  Please read
about it on my website.  The desire is to expand development to more
printers and platforms both of which require more investment on my part.
I believe this is the most equitable way to fund this investment.
