Thanks Bob, this image gave reference image a totally new meaning, thanks for sharing this. incredible details from a 8x10 neg - that 1Ds still got some ground to cover :-) I printed it on my 2100 just using BO (following Clayton Jones very good approach) and it is just a tad warmer then my screen, which I am very pleased about. thanks again Henrik Down Under, WA Perth. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Michaels [mailto:bob@...] Sent: Tuesday, 2 March 2004 9:37 AM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] Re: Sample Reference Image? Go to the Library of Congress, http://memory.loc.gov/ Click on "SEARCH" and search for "Floyd Burroughs, Cotton Sharecropper, Hale County Alabama" and click on the link to the image with that name. (unfortunately, you can't go straight to the image) It's a famous Walker Evans image that you probably have seen, possibly in an original print from Library of Congress. Click on the image and it will give you an option to download a 12 Mb uncompressed archival TIF file of that image. Don't mess with the file in Photoshop, print it exactly as it is. It's a 400 dpi 8x10 8 bit greyscale file that delivers a superb print. I*t's the best reference image I've ever found. Once you see how it prints, you can then start messing it up yourself.
