If I'm not as concerned about metamerism in this particular situation as I normally would be, is this the way to go? Oh, and what lighting source (tungsten, daylight, etc) are the Atkinson profiles balanced towards? I think you should go for the 9600, or the 7600. The Atkinson profiles on Epson stock absolutley neutralizes the output for B&W and it perfectly saleable that way to portrait and corporate clients who have never heard of metamerism. That way, you don't need a RIP, or just use QImage Pro for about 40 bucks. I also prefer the Dmax of the Photo Black on the luster or gloss paper. You can always change the surface finish with spray or lamination. That being said, I have a dedicated B&W 7500 printer with MIS UT-1 inks for doing "carbon on cotton" for the fine art market, where white rag boards, bevel matts and mounting behind glass is the norm. So I'm suggesting an incremental solution here, where your personal/specific client satisfaction/dissatisfaction and financial reward should be the final judge. You can make money will all the current solutions out there. Claude [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
