RE: [Digital BW] I Just Love the UT2 Inks...

Jack,

>What would be advantages of switching to the UT2 inks versus staying

The UT2 inkset is better with glossy paper. The UT1 tends to flood some
such papers, has a shadow tone that is less than ideal on some glossy stock,
and must use a Photo K to get a competitive dmax on those papers. (The UT2
gets a dmax that is about 5% less than the PK -- still very good -- with
curves that allow the Eboni matte black to stay in the printer even when
printing on glossy papers.)

The UT2 inkset has an extended warm range -- to sepia instead of just to
carbon warm.

And, the UT2 can be printed without curves from any application.

If you are comfortable with curves and Photoshop, and only want to print on
matte paper, the UT1 inkset is excellent.

The Eboni black is the same. The UT2 magenta position ink is the same as
the UT1 cyan ink. Those 2 (of 6) inks are the only overlaps.

>As I understand I would have to change the CIS cartridge for color - or
>it's not necessary?

Yes, getting a new color cartridge is necessary.

>I use right now Ebony Black - is it the same Ebony as in the UT2?

Yes.
