Kirk,
  This applies to CFS system from MIS.  When you installed the CIS system did you use a zip ( cable tie ) to secure the carts in place.   If the carts not set properly the red light is on.   2-3mm out of place will cause problems.   If that is not the problem the literature I have says the small chips may be damaged.  Replacements can be bought from MIS.

Can any body help out? I have an Epson Photo 1290 with a CIS. The
problem is the red light is on and I can not print. If I remove the
CIS and put the Epson carts in all works OK.
