Digital BW, The Print

actually, I'm happy to hear from anybody.  I'm not in front of my 
copy of photoshop 7 at the moment, so my question is;

given that Paul recommends "[f]or some curves . . . it is best to 
have the RGB file in 16 bit mode before the tone curve is applied
[.]", can these tone curves be used w/ the same degree of 
functionality/output quality w/ photoshop 7 as w/ CS?
