Digital BW, The Print

With the old Piezo plug-in, the more resolution it had, the more it
could do.  I frequently printed files at 720 to 1100 dpi.  However,
that strategy w/QTR seems to yield long rasterization and print times.
 For a  1280, running at 1440x720, what resolution would you recommend
sending.    Is there a general rule for determining the resolution for
QTR (or I realize, GimpPrint)?  Thanks,
