Re: StudioPrint v ImagePrint

2004-06-29 by Tyler Boley

This question tends to raise some major debate. I think you should see
samples of quads and make the determination yourself, or get your
client's opinions. If you go to quads, I tend to favor StudioPrint
since you can optimise and linearize it for any quad ink set, and
rumor is they will soon have options available for the "toner" mono
sets such as MIS inks. Though ImagePrint works well for many, with
quads you are limited to whatever profiles they provide (no doubt
good), and it is not, to date, user linearizable.
The most popular ImagePrint option for B&W, using the UC color inks,
is a different look in my opinion. It also works well for many people.
I think their thrust is for continued developement of that aproach and
am not sure how seriously they are continuing developement of quad
options, others would no better than I.
Don't forget to check out IJC and QuadToneRIP, they are both viable
and in some ways more flexible. All except ImagePrint are platform
dependant.
