Hi Roy, I'll load up one of the Linux versions (probably Fedora) as a clean new install and make a run. I should be able to get you the error log in a day or two. I thought I had all this in my notes but I probably tossed it in a fit of house keeping. My desk doesn't reflect it but the pile has to be kept to a reasonable height :-) Briefly what happens is that QTR processes the image, sends it to the print queue and then it just bails out without printing. This is the same behavior we saw earlier in the game with RH 9 that Dave Wroblewski's quad.convs fixed. That similarity is what makes me think the problem might be in the filter. I tried using quad.convs and when it didn't work pulled that and then I modified the filter settings directly so that the sum would force it to use the proper sequence. That didn't work either. With Fedora I could print with the 860 (since sent to printer heaven...) but not the 2200. There seems to be a change in the way gimp-print functions in the newer rpm based distros???? I haven't tried one of the debian based distros. Using the 2200 ppd from gimp-print it will print without a problem but, of course, lacks the QTR features. This is more of an intellectual challenge since I can print with my old Mac albeit a bit slower and for a few bucks I can pick up a G4 dual 533 that will not have the limitations of the old Beige Box. On the other hand, Linux is becoming more mature with every iteration and for many purposes is easily the equal of Windows and is far more stable and much less prone to attack by idiot script kiddies. Since by using CrossOver one can use the windows version of photoshop within Linux it makes a killer printing system. But... I am not enough of a Unix/Linux maven to dig out the problem. It would be best to email me the errors and also the last page of the gimp errorlog. Roy [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
