Nope. the EOS 1Ds chip is a CMOS chip...the S427 back (which is what I'm 
assuming you are talking about) uses a CCD. It is most likely the Dalsa 
(formerly Phillips) 4x3 chip, but I could be wrong.

Kodak did a monochromatic version of the DCS 760 a while back...didn't 
know other vendors were making this an option. Seems a little limiting, 
but if your game is 100% B&W then why not?
