I downloaded and printed first sample in about ten minutes last night. This is an amazing transformation! An image I had about given up on will now get some tweaking and a final print in the next day or two. Smooth tone now replaces mild posterization, and muddy shadows now reveal detail I could only see on screen. One issue you may want to know about Roy: Not knowing what to expect, I dropped the target image onto the .bat script without having paper in the printer. When it started to print, I quickly dropped in a sheet of EEM and hit the paper button. XP promptly re-booted then came back reporting a "serious" error having occurred. I re-booted once again then went about my business. -----Original Message----- From: Roy Harrington [mailto:roy@...] Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2004 9:56 PM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] Re: Announcement: QuadToneRIP for Windows XP --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Peter Marquis-Kyle" <peter@m...> wrote: > Roy Harrington wrote: > > > I've just uploaded the first release of QuadToneRIP for the PC. > > The initial version supports the 2200 with UltraChrome Inks. > > > > Other printers and canned profiles will be available fairly soon. > > Support for creating your own profiles is not available yet. > > Bravo, Roy! > > Now I'll ask some of the questions that will make you ask yourself why > you began tinkering with Windows... I've worked on some of the image positioning code and I'd like to do some sanity test checking on the various printers. If there are desires for certain printers I'll do those first. > > * Ditto other inksets (MIS-VM?) The profiles are identical -- the code that converts grayscale to printer dots is identical. Anyone with Mac profiles can just copy them over. > > Peter Marquis-Kyle Roy ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Make a clean sweep of pop-up ads. Yahoo!
