RE: [Digital BW] Re: Announcement: QuadToneRIP for Windows XP

2004-08-06 by Bill Cheadle

I downloaded and printed first sample in about ten minutes last night. This
is an amazing transformation! An image I had about given up on will now get
some tweaking and a final print in the next day or two. Smooth tone now
replaces mild posterization, and muddy shadows now reveal detail I could
only see on screen.

One issue you may want to know about Roy: Not knowing what to expect, I
dropped the target image onto the .bat script without having paper in the
printer. When it started to print, I quickly dropped in a sheet of EEM and
hit the paper button. XP promptly re-booted then came back reporting a
"serious" error having occurred. I re-booted once again then went about my
business.

Yes, sometimes I wonder!

I don't know. I imagine the programs themselves will run just fine. The
issue will be whether or not the output gets to the printer. It would be
great if someone will a little windows know-how would try it.

The code is basically there. I've worked on some of the image positioning
code and I'd like to do some sanity test checking on the various printers.
If there are desires for certain printers I'll do those first.

I can bring the profiles I have over to windows.

The profiles are identical -- the code that converts grayscale to printer
dots is identical. Anyone with Mac profiles can just copy them over.
