If you go to the "Polls" section of the group homepage you will find 
two running polls. One for printers and one for ink sets. With about 
130 responses the most used ink set is Piezo and the 1160 leads the 
printers. If you go through the printer data you can get a feel for 
how many are on quad and hex printers.

I saw some side-by-side comparison of a 3000 and a 1200 I felt that 
with magnification the dot pattern was definitely less noticeable 
with the 1200 than the 3000. At normal viewing distances the 
difference was not noticeable on matte papers but I could faintly see 
it on glossy paper.
