I use Scanhancer with my Multi Pro and have been pretty happy with it. The difference is not great but for the extra minimal cost I think it's worth the investment. I scan 16-bit grayscale as black-and-white positive. The preview histogram comes back heavily weighted to the shadows, so you must increase the exposure between 1.5 to 2 in the Dimage Scan Utility before the final scan. I understand that many people have been disappointed with the noise in color scans with the Multipro, but I have not extensively tested this. 90% of my scans are with black-and- white negatives.
