Steve,

>I wonder if you can elaborate as to why you got rid of the 3000,
>other then the dmax,

The 3000 has an excellent dmax with the Epson driver.

I have a 7500 with UT1 in it that I use for most of my display prints. So,
the 3000 was just sitting there. I also plan to get a 4000 when I'm
convinced the initial bugs are out of it. The reason for this is that I
want a printer that I can load a version of the UT7 into to get my sepia
prints up to 16 x 20. The 3000 was taking the spot I've designated for the
4000.

> and why you chose not to use the R-9- Piezo driver?

I started with the Piezo driver, but soon found I prefer the Epson driver.
It has a significantly better dmax and did not band like the Piezo driver.
A newer version of the Piezo driver took care of banding, but only at a
speed that was dog slow. My computer also could not handle any other
applications while the Piezo driver was printing, whereas I can do other
things while the Epson driver is printing. So, the Epson driver was just a
better way to go in my opinion.

> Also were you using the new ultratone FSN inks or the old ones?

I had the new UT-FSN in there at the end. The new inks are considerably
better than the old ones.
