I think that the 1D isn't the general purpose pro digicam that everyone was expecting. It's very clearly aimed at the photojournalist market, and is priced accordingly. With more resolution and higher speed than the Nikon D1H, Canon obviously think they can sell a load to newspapers and freelance sports agencies. I have this feeling that another one will come out early next year, this time aimed at high resolution markets.
