Steve, I agree. I find I can't tell the difference between 1440 & 2880 on my 1280 unless using a good loupe. But some say they can with their printers so I just accept that. I do also see slight variances in the ink load from some paper profiles. I should have added that one can pick the paper profile they think makes their prints look best. After trying most of them, I went back to the HWM setting (no EEM on 1280).
