When I see ink spraying out to the sides, I think there may be junk on the surface of the head, deflecting the jet. So, I do the "Windex on paper towel under the head" trick. The last few times I've done this I used a "Double Fold Bias Tape" (13 mm wide) that I bought at Wal-Mart in the sewing department. It seems easier than cutting and folding paper towels. I basically soaked a piece of this with Windex; laid it down in the area that the head travels over; put the head height to +; with the printer off, released the head by pulling the white gear at the left toward me; moved the head over the soaked cloth tape; lowered the head; grabbed the ends of the "bias" tape; and moved it back and forth below the head. I also clean the pad with Windex (or any window cleaner with ammonia) and paper towels, because that is the area where the head is probably picking up the junk. Good luck. I am just worried because when I print the purge pattern the magenta ink that is coming out is sprayed all over the place - it is splattered on the cyan and yellow. And there is still heavy banding in the magenta. > From: Richard Sintchak <rich815@...> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2004 07:26:02 -0700 > To: <digitalblackandwhitetheprint@yahoogroups.com> > Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Blocked nozzles on a 2100 > > Steve before doing the Windex thing I would consider just letting the > printer sit for a day or so.
