Guys, I have a $98 HP7660 that may be the proverbial B/W ink jet Holy Grail. The 7000 series is the one with the photo grey ink cart. It isn't perfect but close. I've done the quad, the hex, the piezo and for a long-life, OEM, no-sweat silver print look the HP does the job. Neutral, no bronzing, and no metamerism on their paper and warmer but still no bronzing on Epson and other glossy paper. Only one huge, for me, problem - I can't make it do pans. The HP tech support was no help - the dealers know nothing and the Yahoo HP list has not been any help in spite of my repeated whining to them. Anyhow, I hope some HP folks are on this list and want to share experiences with that brand of serious B/W printing. I'll send a really nice print to the first person who tells me how I can make a custom-size pan (thats longer than 14 in. and not on fan-fold paper) on ANY HP7000 series printer OR, gives me the word that it can't be done from a reliable source. BTW Ctien did a review of the 7960 in July/Aug Photo Techniques that sez the thing can do a ten foot print. Thanks, AZ
