Re: [Digital BW] Power Retouche B&W plug in

2004-09-19 by andrei aderca

Hi Steve

I've used it for about 6 months now on PS 8- it works great and
does provide many "out of the box" tools as opposed to tweaking
the channel mixer or other workflows. Besides the B&W conversion
it has other useful features, among which the sharpening algorithm
is far above the standard PS tool in terms of flexibility and quality.
I have the 8 bit version, just did not want to spend that much money
up front until I had a chance to try this for a while.
My only gripes so far, there is no full screen preview of the effects,
also I have trouble seeing that much of a difference between the
canned B&W film profiles (it has a couple of Kodak and Ilford
settings)- again, my monitor is not really state of the art so it
may have something to do with this.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to accomplish
a neat B&W conversion in PS with ready-made tools.

Regards

Andrei

Has anyone tried Power Retouche's Photoshop B&W plug-in? It appears
to have some neat features. I've read that Fred Miranda's B&W Pro
Workflow causes pretty severe image degaradation, so I'm a little
hesitant to use any of theses B&W plug-ins...

  Thanks in advance,
  Steve B
