I have been printing with an Epson 2200 for over a year, and have used the supplied profiles from Epson for color with excellent results - both Enhanced Matte and Prem Luster papers. But B&W was not satisfactory,so I didn't do any of this until I recently discovered - via the commentary on this group - QTR. I am delighted with this approach and find it easy to use. Thanks to the group members for their comments. I have to question the necessity of doing all the work on developing custom profiles when the out of the box ones do such a good job for me. Its possible I'm not discriminating enough. I like music and have a high end system, but I'm skeptical when an enthusiast claims that he/she can hear the difference between different power cords connecting the amplifier to the wall. I ran a grid of B&W prints using the Harrington profiles in QTR and they essentially do what the descriptions say: warm, cool, 50% warm - 50% cool, etc. Why bother to develop new profiles for paper/ink/printer combinations that are already profiled? Its more fun to make pictures.
