Re: 10% Bicubic verses Camera Raw plug-in interpolation

2004-09-26 by jhaneyzz

Steve,

I did my own comparison a couple of weeks ago and determined that the RAW
interpolation is at least as good as bringing the image in at native resolution and scaling
via.

Any additional scaling I use the Bicubic Smoother.

I tried this compared to Incremental 10% steps (Stair Interpolation) and I preferred the Raw
and Bicubic Smoother options by a small margin.

Every comparison I have seen to this versus standalone scaling tools I find uncompelling.
i.e. Just use the scaling in Photoshop and quit worrying about it.

I just made several 24x36 inch prints from scaled Canon 10D RAW files. I was amazed.
Definitely better than enlarging 35mm or 2 1/4 film to a similar size.

The client was very happy with the result.
