The papers ought to be the same but it sure sounds like they are
different somehow.  With a roll its pretty hard to put it in backwards but
I wonder if it isn't coated correctly.   Just to be sure I'd try to print
identically on both to make sure there isn't anything else different.
I'd do the wet lips or lick test to see if its coated correctly.
