Although not a "true" re: drum scanner, I currently use an Epson 3200 for scanning 6cm x 12cm and the occasional 4" x 5". It does a commendable job for a flatbed. It has been superceded by the 4870 which has higher resolution but covers the same formats. It's only drawback is the film holder for 120 film . . . it sits the wrong way and leaves film hanging over the edge of the scanner . . . a simple problem to fix. In my case I made a couple of custom holders, one for 6 x 7 and one for 6 x 12 . . . the film sits in the sweet spot, there is a single size aperture for each format (less possiblity of flare), and is parallel to the long dimension of the unit.

In the future I will probably go to an Imacon, but I was reluctant to part with sooooo much money until I got the feel for what I was doing. At present the 3200 still fills my needs, and was a bargain!

all the best
