Yesterday I made a curve for the 2000P and PhotoRag, using the MIS UT-FS inks with Eboni matte black. I used the "Watercolor" media type setting, "Photo" quality with "High Speed" checked. Today the PhotoRag 100% dmax reads 1.75 -- the highest matte dmax I've ever measured. EEM is coming in at 1.68, and with "Color Controls" checked, it prints quite well with no curve at all. (Most papers need a curve to avoid low contrast midtones.) PremierArt 205 has a dmax of 1.65 today. Again, the highest I've seen with that (or any other modestly-priced) cotton paper. Frankly, 1.65 is where I think more dmax on a matte paper doesn't get you much visible difference. So, when one considers the price of that paper and the dmax it gets with the 2000P, that makes for a very reasonably-priced, top notch printing system. The old 2000P may not be as fast as the 2200, but it can make some fine matte prints. Paul www.PaulRoark.com _________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: claudej1@... True, but for matte papers the 2000P seems about the same as a 1280. I'm told Epson slowed down the 2000P for the glossy paper settings to allow more drying time before rollers were hit. I have not written curves for glossy papers, so I can't say whether there is a work-around that is worth the effort. Paul _www.PaulRoark.com_ (http://www.PaulRoark.com) My experience with printing on matte papers with the 2000P corroborates your source. The matte papers create a lower Dmax on EAM at a much faster rate than the higher Dmax of the Archival Inks on premium luster!! LOL. But it has been quite a while, so, I don't have the stopwatch data anymore, however, the impression remains.
