Hi John
First of all I'm no expert on the Mac but I have two ideas you could 
try that would certainly do no harm.

1) Run a repair on permissions. Applications - Utilities - Disk 
Utility - Repair Disk Permissions

2) Printer sharing ON. Applications - System Preferences - Sharing - 
Printer Sharing ON.

Try a reboot and then reinstall the Epson Printer. If this works then 
try and reinstall QTR.

I had a similiar problem and was advised to try this approach first. 
However with me it was just QTR that was not printing like you 
described, problem was solved when I discovered that QTR will not 
work using 2880 dpi !! I now have both working perfectly.
