RE: [Digital BW] Epson 1280 UT2 Clog

2004-10-21 by Paul Roark

Put a cart of black dye in the printer. It is one of the best solvents for
inks and might be able to cut through the clog. I think the Epson OEM dye
may be the best of the bunch.

Subject: [Digital BW] Epson 1280 UT2 Clog

I have been using UT2 inks in an Epson 1280 with the usual slight clogging
problems that
could be easily resolved with the normal cleaning utility. After not using
the printer for
three weeks, I have encountered a clog in the black ink head that won't go
away. About
50% of the head showed clogging and misalignment and after 2 days of using
advanced
cleaning techniques (lint free wipes impregnated with windex, syringing
diluted windex
through the print head) recommended here and on other web sites, the head
has been
improved about 95%. When I run a nozzle check there is still one line that
is jagged and
misaligned, the result being tiny white spots on the print. Running the
alignment utility
didn't help.

Questions: Is there any other method for cleaning this problem? If removing
the head is
necessary where might I find instructions?

I hate to write this printer off as I fianlly have the printer and ink set
dialed in and the
results generated by it with the UT2 inks are spectacular. Thanks.
