RE: [Digital BW] Re: Epson 1280 UT2 Clog

I've used color dye to break through clogs in the color head also.

To be honest, however, my 1280 is virtually dead now. I think it is due to
my bottom-filling of huge numbers of carts. This puts the "clunkers"
(oversize particles or agglomerations) on the wrong side of the filter that
is supposed to catch the problems. Ultimately these clunkers probably clog
the screens in the head. I think the dye opens these up temporarily, but in
my case they soon clogged again. Bottom filling may be a risky practice.

I used to vacuum fill my 1160 carts to avoid this. Unfortunately, the 1280
carts that I've been able to get have not lent themselves to easy vacuum
filling.

Paul,

I finally got that clog from hell after four years of using the same
printer, and it's on the color cartridge. I've tried cleaning
cartridges, windex soaking, numerous head cleaning and when I recover
one color another color clogs and vice versa. Now, I've got two colors
clogged.

I'm using MIS-UT inks. Since the black ink is not clogged, have you by
any chance a solution for the color cartridges.

TIA,
André
