Qimage resamples up to 720 ppi (not dpi) for Epson desktop printers
regardless of the incoming image resolution. So I agree it would be a
bit counterproductive to do any resampling before handing off to
Qimage, since one of Qimage's strengths is the use of superior
interpolation schemes than the ones available in PS, etc.

It sounds as though you were trying to feed sheets to the printer in
"landscape" orientation (i.e., the long edge first). Why were you
doing that? The printer driver (and, I assume QTR) assumes that the
paper is fed only one way (with short edge first). No wonder you had
problems.
