David,

Usually when I hear that someone sees magenta with the MIS VM inkset (and I
don't know which inkset you are using), it is left-over OEM ink in the head.
The heads have blind alleys in them that do not clean out completely at
first.  The magenta position seems to be the one that causes the most
problems.  So, it could be some artifact from the ink changing if that is
what you recently did.

(I have no knowledge of 1280s or their alignment.)
