Jerry: I find that if I scan at a resolution that give me something around 360 ppi in the desired print size, never resample in PS, and just send whatever resolution I have to my 1280, I get prints as good as they ever get. This means scanning at less than my scanners max resolution, faster scans, smaller files, faster workflow, and the same maximum print quality.
