No. QTR does this on the 2200 because it has a light black ink in addition to the black ink. It then uses just a touch of color ink (magenta and cyan) to correct for the yellow color of the light black ink. On the 1280, there is just one black ink. You can select "black ink only" in the Epson driver and print good, but a little grainy, b&w prints. QTR will help on this printer only if it contains an inkset with more than one black/grey ink. This would be a non-epson inkset. I use QTR on my 1160 (4 ink printer) with 3 grey and one black ink. I had to print calibration strips and have QTR make curves for each ink color. It took me a little while to figure out how to do it. Not plug and play simple by any means. There are some standard inksets and papers and printers for which there are pre-made curves available for QTR. This is much more simple. A 1280 with Epson inks is not one of them. You could buy a 2nd 1280, fill it with one of the MIS brand b&w inksets and use QTR to drive the printer... > > What kinds of problems can I expect to encounter if I want to print > both > b&w and color?
