An exhibit of photos by Barbara Grover opens next Saturday November 20, 6-9pm at the Sherry Frumkin Gallery in the Santa Monica Airport, Los Angeles, California. I mention it here, because besides the merits of the work itself, there may be an interest in the digital bw techniques used and the fact that large scale work of this kind is showcased in a prestigious gallery. The show consists of 24 canvas panels 44x60", 12 of which are portraits and the other 12 are text taken from an interview with the person in the photo. It represents the perspectives and experiences of 6 Palestinians and 6 Israelis answering the question "what does this land mean to you? ". I printed these on Moab canvas, using WarmTone Piezotone inks on an Epson 9500. The profiling was handled with IJC (InkjetControl) and printing done through OPM (OpenPrintmaker). The files came from 6x7 bw negs that I scanned on an Imacon. Both inkjetmall and inkjetgoodies helped with pricing and materials to bring this show to life, since it is produced under a non-profilt entity. The show will be up through December.
