It's not that the "digital only" lenses are better, they're just smaller and more efficient because they're designed for smaller sensors. You can't use them with full-frame sensors or 35mm film because they don't project a large enough image on the focal plane. The lenses designed for 35mm film are probably generally better, because they're designed to be sharp over a larger area. And on a digicam with a crop factor, they may be better still, because the corners of their working area, where they're weakest, aren't even used. If anyone knows anything to the contrary, I'd like to hear it.
