Mark: the 890 is just a 1280 with a narrower carriage. I have both printers. I'm at a loss as to why your prints are "grainy". Could it be the neg or the scan? It's a bit tough to diagnose your problem without much information. I do know that the 890 can output prints that look as good as a 1280, 2200 or any other printer.
